Legalization / Authentication / Attestation

  1. Authentication of documents emanating from Ghana e.g. for marriage, educational, birth, divorce certificates, drivers license etc. must be endorsed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration in Ghana, before they are brought to the Ghana High Commission in Pretoria for authentication. Original documents must be presented before copies can be endorsed.
  2. In the case of documents being sent to Ghana from South Africa, applicants are required to have their documents endorsed by the Department of International Relations and Cooperation in South Africa before they are brought to the Ghana High Commission for legalization.
  3. A fee of R1000 is charged for Authentication/Legalization
  4. A fee of R600 is charged for Attestation
METHOD OF PAYMENT
  • Payments for all services provided by the Mission should either be by Online Payment or Swipe Card at the Consulate on submission of application.
  • The Mission would no longer accept any other form of payments.
  • The public is to take note of the changes.
VALIDITY PERIOD – ONLINE PAYMENTS PASSPORTS

Online payments made for passport applications are valid for Six (6) months from the date of payment. Proof of payment must subsequently be presented at the High Commission within the six (6) month period, in the year of application, for the issuance of a receipt to support a passport application.

By regulations, every online application expires after a period of six (6) months. Applicants who, therefore, fail to follow the aforementioned procedure, forfeit the amount paid and will be required to re-submit payment.
