His Excellency Benjamin Anani Quashie, High Commissioner of Ghana to South Africa, participated in a working visit to Transnet Pipeline Limited in Durban from 19th to 23rd January 2026, alongside a ten-member Primary Distribution Management(PDM) Committee of the Republic of Ghana led by Honourable Richard Gyan-Mensah, Deputy Minister for Energy and Green Transition.
The primary objective of the visit was to gain insights into Transnet Pipeline Limited’s experiences in the distribution of petroleum products, general operations, pipeline development and maintenance, tariff structure, and the functioning of operational control centres. Ghana’s delegation engaged with officials of the company in valuable knowledge-sharing sessions, focusing on the critical areas of petroleum pipeline infrastructure and harbour development.
The discussions underscored the strategic importance of oil and port infrastructure as vital components for economic growth and energy security. On the part of High Commissioner Quashie, he encouraged both parties to take necessary steps to formalise their engagements within the framework of the Ghana-South Africa Bi-National Commission. He outlined that establishing a formal relationship would facilitate addressing matters of mutual interest at the highest levels of government for the respective countries.
