A seven-member delegation made up of Chocolatier exporters and officials from the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), led by Mr. Rober Mensah Gavie, Head of Legal at the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), arrived in South Africa on October 27th October, 2025. The delegation is set to participate in the Standard Bank Annual Wine Festival (WineX) from 29th to 31st October, 2025, in Sandton, South Africa
This prestigious event aims to delve into the art of pairing wine and chocolate, two complementary products, which offer classic pairings and insightful tips to enhance the tasting experience for all participants. The delegation will showcase unique organic chocolate products from Ghana, recognising the growing synergy between wine and chocolate and the potential for market entry in South Africa.

During their visit, the delegation had the honour of paying a courtesy call on Ghana’s High Commissioner, His Excellency Benjamin Anani Quashie, to discuss the objectives of their mission. The High Commissioner expressed his strong support for the initiative, emphasising the importance of promoting Made-in-Ghana products to help address trade imbalances with international partners. He highlighted that such efforts were vital for Ghana’s economic recovery and transformation, in line with President John Dramani Mahama’s Rest Agenda Initiative. Furthermore, His Excellency Benjamin Anani Quashie encouraged the delegation to tap into the rich experience of the Mission’s Trade Attache, Mr Osman Mamuda, to enable them to make inroads into the South African market. The courtesy call ended with a photo opportunity with the High Commissioner.
