Ghana-South Africa Hold Virtual Senior Officials Meeting to Review Decisions of 2nd   Bi-National Commission(BNC).

On 24 February 2026, Ghana and South Africa held a virtual Senior Officials Meeting to review the status of implementation of decisions arising from the 2nd Ghana-South Africa Bi-National Commission (BNC) held in Pretoria, South Africa, in March , 2024. The meeting served as a preparatory step ahead of the Ministerial Mid-Term Review, scheduled to take place in Accra later in 2026.

The Ghana delegation was co-chaired by Ambassador Kwadwo Peprah Ampratwum, Director for Africa Bilateral Relations, with the support of His Excellency Benjamin Anani Quashie, Ghana’s High Commissioner to South Africa. The delegation included other officials from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.

South Africa was represented by Mr Nyameko Goso, Chief Director for West Africa at the Department of International Relations, and Ms Linda Shongwe, High Commissioner-Designate of South Africa to Ghana, as well as officials from relevant Departments and Agencies.

 The discussions focused on reviewing the progress made on agreed decisions, identifying areas where implementation had stalled, and emphasised the need for coordinated action. Both parties agreed to develop Plans of Action that detail the specific steps each country will take to advance the provisions of the various Memoranda of Understanding.
