High Commissioner Quashie Receives the Sudanese Ambassador to South Africa.

His Excellency Osman Abufatima Adam Mohammed, the Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan, paid a courtesy call on His Excellency Benjamin Anani Quashie, the High Commissioner of Ghana to South Africa, to announce his arrival in Pretoria and reinforce the long-standing relations between Ghana and Sudan that have existed since the days of the liberation struggle. Ambassador Adam Mohammed also used the opportunity to clarify the situation in Sudan, emphasising that solutions proposed by Africans can best address African challenges. He expressed a strong commitment to collaborating closely with High Commissioner Quashie on matters of mutual interest.

On his part, High Commissioner Quashie expressed his appreciation for the visit and highlighted the historical significance of Ghana’s relations with Sudan, which dated back to the 1950s. Ghana’s High Commissioner explained that after Sudan gained independence in 1956 and Ghana in 1957, their relations flourished, leading to the opening of Ghana’s resident diplomatic mission in Khartoum. He further acknowledged the need for collaboration to advance the collective interests of both countries at various multilateral fora.

The meeting was an important step toward strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation in addressing shared challenges.
