In pursuit of Government policy objectives to promote Made-in-Ghana products, diplomats from the Ghana High Commission in Pretoria joined Ghanaian chocolatiers at the Standard Bank Wine Festival (dubbed WineX), held from the 29th to the 31st of October 2025, at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg.
Under the auspices of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), Ghanaian chocolate producers such as Darling Wings Farm Ltd, Allsave Chocolate Ltd, AFS Processing Ltd, and Sekoe Chocolate showcased a variety of cocoa products, including organic dark cocoa powder, dark chocolates, and sweet chocolate products for sampling and tasting.
The Ghanaian chocolates and cocoa products were strategically paired alongside an exquisite array of wines from South African wineries. Participants were treated to free samples and servings of the distinct flavours of unadulterated wines and chocolate products that South African and Ghanaian producers had to offer.
Winex 2025 was well-attended and attracted wine enthusiasts from all over South Africa, creating an engaging environment for exhibitors to market their products. The Ghanaian exporters raised awareness of Ghanaian chocolate brands and highlighted the complementary nature of chocolate and wine.
The event certainly left a lasting impression on participants. Producers, exhibitors, and buyers successfully established business connections among themselves, fostering opportunities for mutually beneficial business relationships. Many participants were full of praise for the high percentage of pure, unadulterated cocoa content in Ghanaian Chocolates.
